Student Password Information
Overview:
The standard student password format is mmddyyyy@B3@c0n! (with mmddyyyy representing your birthdate and the 0 at the end being a zero).
Please note: Students must first log in to their Rowan-Cabarrus student email and set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) before they can reset their passwords. MFA must be set up before any password is reset. Once MFA is configured, students can use the Microsoft Self-Service Password Reset Tool to change their password or contact the Help Desk at 704-216-7200 for assistance.
Student Password Requirements:
• Must contain a minimum of 14 characters in length.
• Each password must include at least three of the following four character types:
- Uppercase letters (A through Z)
- Lowercase letters (a through z)
- Numbers (0 through 9)
- Special characters (e.g., !@#$%^&*()-_+=[]{}|;:,.<>/? )
• Password resets are permitted once every 24 hours.
• Passwords must be updated every six months.
• The previous 25 passwords cannot be reused.
Important Note: If a student contacts the help desk to reset their password, it will be set to the
default: mmddyyyy@B3@c0n! (where "mmddyyyy" represents the student’s birthdate and the final
"0" is a zero). Upon logging in with this default password, the student will be prompted to create a new password.
